Les Dobinson and Joe Cattini

According to National Army Museum research, 83,115 troops landed in the British and Canadian sectors of the Normandy coastline.

Around 24,970 of them landed on Gold Beach, which the British Normandy Memorial overlooks.

Joe Cattini landed on Gold Beach as a Driver/Bombardier in 86th Field Regiment Royal Artillery.

Les Dobinson landed on Omaha Beach with US Forces as part of theĀ RAF Mobile Signals Servicing Unit.

The two friends explain why the British Normandy Memorial means so much to them and why it commemorates all of those who served in, or with British units.
