HISTORICAL CONTEXT
He was a crew member of Lancaster Mk.III NE166, 582 Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF). They took off from RAF Little Staughton, Cambridgeshire at 03:03 on 6 June 1944 to bomb the coastal battery at Longues-sur-Mer, Calvados but the aircraft failed to return.
He has no known place of burial so he is commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial to the Missing, Berkshire.
