HISTORICAL CONTEXT
107th (South Nottinghamshire Hussars) Medium Regiment, Royal Artillery did not land in Normandy until July 1944. However a small number of personnel from this unit landed on D-Day as part of Forward Observation Officer parties.
They were tasked with directing Allied artillery fire against German defences ashore. The exact circumstances of his death are unknown. He has no known place of burial so he is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the Missing, Calvados.
