HISTORICAL CONTEXT
5 Independent Armoured Support Battery, was attached to 3rd Infantry Division and landed on the morning of D-Day on Queen Red and Queen White sectors, Sword Beach.
The battery was deployed to provide armoured fire support where required for units on Sword Beach. He was killed when the landing craft he was on was hit as it approached the shore.
