He was killed in an accident in Colchester on D-Day. Troops who died before they had left the UK for Normandy are not normally recorded on the British Normandy Memorial. His name has been included on this Roll of Honour in error.
His unit, 11th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers, did not arrive in France until 11 June 1944, several days after his death.
