HISTORICAL CONTEXT
12th (10th Battalion, The Green Howards [Yorkshire Regiment]) Battalion, Parachute Regiment landed by parachute at drop zone 'N' near Ranville. The battalion took up positions to the south of Ranville.
Some troops were missing after being dropped by parachute away from their planned drop zone. Despite this, the battalion held the area against repeated German counter-attacks.
He was reported missing shortly after landing but the exact circumstances of his death are unknown. He has no known place of burial so he is commemorated on the Bayeux Memorial to the Missing, Calvados.
