HISTORICAL CONTEXT
He was part of the crew of Albemarle P1593 who took off at 17:07 on a glider-retrieval flight from Hampstead Norris to Kinloss. When flying low in bad weather the aircraft was seen to spin in and burst into flames. All on board were killed. His name has been included on this Roll of Honour in error as those killed in the UK are not normally recorded on the British Normandy Memorial.
