The Trust's Appeal To Find Relatives Of The Fallen

The names of 22,440 servicemen and 2 servicewomen are engraved on the Memorial, and it is easy to search for a name via the Trust’s Roll of Honour database, which can be found here.

The stories behind those names are of great importance to the Trust and it is developing a Digital Visitor Experience App, so that information about individual names can be shared with the public.

The Trust is appealing for relatives of the fallen to come forward to share stories, pictures, letters and other archive materials connected to their loved ones so that their memory can be preserved for future generations. Our Director of Development, Julie Verne, reflects on the poignancy of just one of those stories, that of Private George Hanks of the 10th Battalion Highland Light Infantry, which was shared with us recently by his grandson, Paul.

There are likely to be many thousands of people who have relatives named on the Memorial and may not even know about its existence yet. Please do share this page with your own networks so that more people may find out about the Trust and in turn, share their family stories.

To share YOUR relative’s story please email [email protected].
