GETTING HERE

*****There are major roadworks taking place in Ver-sur-Mer in 2026, which may affect your journey to the Memorial. The main road heading from north to south through the village towards Crépon will be closed to traffic until October. Please double check your GPS to ensure that your planned route to the Memorial goes via Courseulles-sur-Mer to the east or Arromanches / Asnelles to the west and follows the coastal road (D514).*****

By car

Please note that there are significant roadworks in the village of Ver-sur-Mer throughout 2026. Please pay special attention to the instructions below if you plan to visit the British Normandy Memorial by car in 2026.

In many villages in France there is a priority to the right rule, meaning that cars on the main road must give way to those joining from the right. This is the case in Ver-sur-Mer, so please be careful as you drive through the village. Find out more here.

The British Normandy Memorial is located just off the D514 in the commune of Ver-sur-Mer, Calvados. It is about 25 minutes from the outskirts of Caen or Bayeux. If you are using a Sat Nav please use the address: 13 Avenue Paul Poret, Ver-sur-Mer, 14114. Vehicular access to the Memorial is from either Courseulles (to the East) or Arromanches (to the West) and along the D514 coast road in order to avoid approaching Ver-sur-Mer from the South.

The local roads are narrow and winding and, in some places, impassable for larger vehicles (coaches, camper vans or cars towing trailers). Therefore, please follow the local tourism signs as you get close to the Memorial rather than your Sat Nav. The Memorial is accessible to cyclists by using the cycle path and there are cycle hoops to lock your bike to as cycles are not permitted within the Memorial itself.

Please note that in many villages in France there is a priority to the right rule, meaning that cars on the main road must give way to those joining from the right. This is the case in Ver-sur-Mer, so please be careful as you drive through the village. Find out more here.

By Bicycle

The Memorial sits along the path of the Vélomaritime du Calvados, a series of connected cycle paths all along the Normandy coastline. There are cycle hoops near the Winston Churchill Centre and near the Memorial to lock your bike to.

By Bus

There is a bus stop outside the main entrance to the Memorial (Avenue Paul Poret). The local bus service is run by Nomad and you can consult their timetables and use their journey planning tool on their website.

Bus services are infrequent and may be impacted by the roadworks in the village, so please double check your plans before travelling.

From 5 July to 31 August the Normandy Region runs additional services between Courseulles-sur-Mer and Maisy-Grandcamp stopping at many of the major D-Day landmarks, including the British Normandy Memorial.

There are seven buses per day at the Memorial travelling in each direction, at roughly 1½ hour intervals. Use Google Maps, the Nomad journey planning tool, or visit their website to see individual bus timetables to plan your visit.

By Rail

The Memorial is situated approximately halfway between Caen and Bayeux rail stations, both served by local trains and regional services from Paris. Car hire is available at the train station in Caen. Bus services run from both Caen and Bayeux rail stations to Ver-sur-Mer.

By Taxi

Taxi services are available from Caen and Bayeux. We strongly recommend booking ahead, as local taxis often book up quickly. Ver-sur-Mer does have a local taxi service and these should be booked in advance:

Taxi du Bessin : +33 (0) 2 31 92 92 40
Courseulles Taxi : +33 (0) 6 16 82 82 54
