Frank Lorne Robertson

Remembering Frank Lorne Robertson, Flight Sergeant, air gunner, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), aged 20, son of Walter Foxton Robertson and Jessie Sophia Harriek Robertson, of Forbes, New South Wales, Australia. He was born in Artarmon New South Wales on 5 January 1924 and went to Canberra Grammer School. He left in 1939 and went to work as a bank clerk with the Rural Bank. He enlisted in the RAAF on the 30 November 1942 and embarked for England in November 1943 where he joined 626 Squadron, Royal Air Force.

He was serving as a crew member in Lancaster MkIII, LM136 and was killed on his 9th mission attacking Courtrai when the aircraft crashed off the coast of Belgium. His body was the only one to be washed ashore and he was buried in Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery
