Alfred David Hawkins

Remembering Alfred David Hawkins, Sgt, Flight Engineer, aged 28, son of Henry Gransby Hawkins and Edith Mary Hawkins. Husband of Dorothy Phyllis Hawkins, of Hanwell, Middlesex. He was killed on his 11th mission - airborne 22:22 on 22 Jun 1944 from Wickenby to bomb rail facilities in Reims. His aircraft crashed at Belloy (Oise), a village set in wooded countryside 6 km SE of Tricot.
News that he was missing was published in the Middlesex County Times of 15th July 1944. We discover that before the war he had worked for seven years in the Ealing Division of the Metropolitan Police before he joined up
