Reports of a 'Theme Park'

Following reports in the press in recent days about plans for a D-Day “theme park”, the Trust has received the following statement from the regional tourist authority:

“The reports of a future D-Day theme park are inaccurate. After the commemorations of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy last year, it is understandable that the Regional Council is now anticipating future events and how to most suitably provide quality interpretation of this moment in world history to visitors in the 21st century. The Regional Council has no intention of supporting any project that can be considered disrespectful of the memory of the soldiers and civilians who died on Normandy soil.”

The Normandy Memorial Trust is not involved in any way with any projects other than the construction of the British Normandy Memorial at the Ver-sur-Mer site.
