Chairman The Lord Ricketts' Visit To The Memorial Site

Chairman of Trustees, The Lord Peter Ricketts, shares his impressions of the Memorial under construction and pictures (see below) of the site, taken during his visit on 9 July 2020.

“The British Normandy Memorial is really taking shape now. I had the privilege of seeing the site today. It’s not open for visiting yet, but when it’s finished, it will take your breath away. The overall structure is becoming clearer now that the 8m high Memorial Court is out of scaffolding. And real English turf is being laid.

The view is amazing – Pointe du Hoc and the Cotentin peninsula in the background. This must be the most imposing British war memorial built overseas for a long time. Thank you to everyone for the donations that have made it possible to realise the dream.”
