Harry Idle

Remembering Harry Idle, Sgt, wireless operator/air gunner, who was killed on his 2nd operation attacking Orleans. Cause of loss not established. They crashed at 0200 on the 5th July 1944 onto the Rue Baciere St-Mark at Orleans.

A Royal Canadian Air Force Casualty Officer wrote on the 7th June 1945 to the mother of one of Harry's other crew members who was killed, that of Blair Vipond. He informed her that further information had been received about him from M. and Mme Michel. It stated that the aircraft had been hit by anti-aircraft fire and crashed in the commune of Fleury les Aubrias, Orleans. Mme Michel stated that the organization, of which she was president, was caring for his grave.
