Hans Arenstein

The Battle of Normandy was just one of the many battles fought during the global conflict that was the Second World War. Whilst we don't know the nationality of most of those commemorated on the British Normandy Memorial the global nature is reflected in a number of different nationalities we are aware of who are commemorated on the British Normandy Memorial  - around 40 of them. These are predominantly from Commonwealth countries and Europe. One of them was Hans Arenstein, a German Jewish refugee who had escaped Nazi persecution and fought in Normandy with the British forces.
